Commodore 1980 - 1985 In 1980 I assumed the duties of Commodore from Bill Koenig. We started working to bring the London Bridge Sailing Society into the Yacht Club. They had enough money in their treasury to pay each members initiation and 2 years dues. In 1983, M.P.I. sold the land we were leasing on Beachcomber Drive. M.P.I. and Komoc Construction stated that if they could get permits to build condos and a marina by the English Village, they would build us a building in the marina. City approval denied. In 1984, looked into land out on London Bridge Road by the Home Center. Dick Martin took aerial pictures of the area we were requesting. I went to Albuquerque, they were going to include this area in a State Land swap. John Sparks and I started working with State Land. In 1985, I worked with the City on the property that the club is on now, but at that time it was voted down by the Club. |
