Commodore 1992 - 1993 An enthusiastic new Board took the helm and was determined to make some changes. New wall carpeting, blue tablecloths, in-house catering with choice of buffet or table-served dinners dramatically improved our Club House atmosphere and ambiance. An active and enthusiastic House Committee was formed and charged with the administrative responsibilities as written in our bylaws. Under the leadership of its chairman, the recommendations and actions of the committee allowed the Board to concentrate on broader issues to help promote our Club. A hired Club Manager handled the weekly hall rentals and the increased bar sales. Flag Officers and Trustees proudly started wearing uniforms and we started flying "Old Glory" from our illuminated mast head. Dinners were catered, instead of volunteer cooked. Almost every weekend our hall was rented to wedding parties, etc. A tremendously successful membership drive resulted in 55 new Members. Attendance at social functions filled our Club to capacity. The substantial increase in revenues, created by all these activities, allowed us to purchase a big screen TV. The bare table tops are now covered in blue linens. New upholstered chairs replaced the cold, steel folding chairs. Our original bar arm chairs, donated and lovingly cared for by Club Members, were reupholstered in Club colors. Social Events with live music are now a regular happening. Newly carpeted walls not only improved the acoustics in our hall they are also the perfect place to display our ever increasing number of reciprocity burgees. Our Invitational Sailing Regattas draw more than 20 boats from all parts of the Western States and have become a true tradition with ever growing popularity. We remodeled the kitchen and began thinking of expansion. An architect was hired to draw up preliminary plans to enlarge our Club House in order to give our members even better service. The momentum is tremendous. We cant stop moving forward. |
