Commodore 1997 After joining the Lake Havasu Yacht Club, I was appointed Power Fleet Captain at the first Board meeting after joining. Also, that same year we were awarded Life Membership for bringing in 10 new memberships. The following years went by fast (you know the old saying.... time goes by quickly when you're having a good time). I served as Rear Commodore (1 Year), Vice Commodore (3 years) (during this time I was also House Committee Chairman), and Commodore (1 year). During the time I was on the Board many decisions were made for the betterment of the Club. After becoming Commodore, it was my decision to have the membership be more informed of the goings on of the Board and let the Board and the Membership be more involved in the day to day operation of the Club. During my term as Commodore we started Liquor License Classes and pursued a more active role in a youth activity program by donating money and time to the youth of our City (Teen Break, Scholarships, Project Graduation, etc.). The Club, for the first time, took charge of the Christmas Parade of Lights for the City. We also made many improvements in the kitchen & lounge for more efficiency and started to realize an increase in profit in both areas. We also brought to the membership a rewrite of the By-Laws which gave us a clearer understanding and would allow the Club to be run more effectively. Of course, during my tenure, what was accomplished, could not have been done without the membership doing their part to make our Club the best. I enjoyed every minute of my term as Commodore and it was a pleasure serving our Membership. |
