Commodore 2002

Jean and I joined the Club in 1995. We were looking to meet new people and have fun in our new home of Lake Havasu City. What we found were the most friendly and fun loving people we had ever met.

In 2000 I was appointed House Committee Chairman. In 2001 I was elected Rear Commodore and shortly after was appointed Vice Commodore.

During my term as Commodore all the pictures of the Staff Commodores were moved to a place of honor in our new entry way. In addition, pictures of the current Board Members are now on display for all to see.

Some of the accomplishments and events during the year included; the parking lot resurfacing, we saw the return of the World Finals in Jet Boat Racing, the first year for the Jet Jam Series of races (both of those events were large fund raisers for the Club), the dedication of the Lighthouse at the entrance of the channel and had new badges made for all spouses of Staff Commodores proudly announcing that they are the "Commodores Mate", the Mate being the right hand and help mate of the Commodore. The Club also donated money to various Youth programs in the City and gave scholarships to High School Graduating Students.

Many thanks to all those Volunteers and to the Burgees, without their help, support and gifts to the Club it would have been a long and hard year.

The hardest thing for me as Commodore was to try and do as good a job of being Commodore as the Commodores that went before me.

My term as Commodore was one of the most enjoyable and fulling times of my life.
