Commodore 2009

The year has been a successful one. We had to rob Peter to pay Paul now and then. The Treasurer has had to take money from the reserve account to pay the bills sometimes. But we have managed to get through.

We had a setback with a leak of the fire sprinkler system which damaged the overhead and destroyed the floor in the foyer of the club house. Fortunately one of our members saved us money on this one. One of our other members put the Logo Medallion that was in the floor back together for us and it now hangs on the wall.

We installed new carpet, bought a new dishwasher/sanitizer and a new freezer.

The HAVAMEGA Hobie Cat races was held this year on our lake, and despite the lack of wind for a few days, it was a success and everyone had a good time. It was truly an International affair. We will be having more Hobie Cat events this coming year and hopefully we will continue into the future. The club was fortunate in that a dedicated sailor donated his 21 foot Venture sail boat to the club. This will be used along with several Hobie Cats to start a youth sailing program.

That brings us to the close of the year, it has been an interesting and busy one.
